With online education booming the whole world, more students and professors are going online to teach students remotely. Now many universities and colleges provide online degrees for students all over the world. It becomes very convenient for anyone qualifying to start teaching others over the internet.

This type of job offers several benefits, such as the ability to work with students from all over the world and meet & know other cultures while being at your home or office. It’s possible to work part time and make extra money which is always good. You don’t need to leave your home, so it’s really great for people who must stay at home for whatever reason.

Requirements:

Obviously, there are requirements for online teaching jobs. If you want to teach from home, first of all you usually need to have a degree. If you teach students at school, then bachelor’s degree is usually necessary. For college students, you should have masters or higher. There are exceptions of course. Some companies hire people to teach how to use specific programs like Excel or Photoshop and in such case, good knowledge in these software are more important.

Next you usually need to know how to use the computer, online search and instant messengers. Some students may need to talk to you via AIM or Skype chat and you should be able to reply fast by typing. Having some basic understanding of how to use online, specific websites is always good.

Show credibility. Employers often ask for references. If you have previously taught students online, then you should have at least some satisfied student testimonials to prove that you are qualified. Besides diplomas if they’re necessary of course.

Where to Find?

You may have searched for online teacher jobs on major job engines. If you didn’t find much luck there, you can always try universities and colleges. For example DeVry and University of Phoenix have teaching jobs to work from home. As these universities are very large and have many online degree programs available.

If you don’t have master’s degree, you should check out Tutor.com. They have many programs in different areas. You have flexible schedule and can choose additional hours for teaching online.

Your Own Teaching Program

If you still can’t find the right job for you at any of these websites or internet altogether, then think about having your own teaching website. If you have the qualification, then all you need is a student to teach them something. You don’t rely on others to provide job for you, you find it yourself.

Best thing is you don’t even need a lot of money to spend on advertising your program. You can post an ad on Craigslist. It will be approved as long as it’s legitimate program. You could get 2 students and charge them $50+ per hour. 3 lessons a week and you already making decent money online. The simplest thing ever.

Or instead of teaching someone via Skype one on one, you could create a downloadable teaching course. Online marketers do this all the time. Except they usually promote crap. If you could put your teaching into videos and sell them for a fee on Clickbank, you could be making very nice living online. You’d gain students, testimonials, respect, authority. And charge even more for one on one sessions. That’s the beauty of internet.

If you have genuine interest in teaching people, it shouldn’t be too hard for you to find online teaching job. However if you struggle no matter what, then think about having a business of your own and using your knowledge to sell information product online.
