Rebate Processing Job Scam Warning!

Posted on November 8, 2010 by admin

It hit big in 2008. When economy crashed, people lost jobs and this seemed like the best thing that could happen. Well, sadly it’s a scam. Period. Fraudsters simply took your money and you never heard from them. But how is the situation at the moment? Exactly the same.

Probably 100% of all rebate processing jobs are scams. It’s just my guess.

The Great Promise

What they promise you now is that you’re going to earn from $75 – $100 per hour processing rebatesYeah right… Isn’t it tempting? Especially for people with no income and family to feed? It sure is.

Then they say that large companies like Hewlett Packard or Dell need home workers to process rebates for them as it’s cheaper. Well, think logically here. Such large companies save money by using automated systems to do that stuff. They definitely don’t need a Joe Shmoe sitting at home to process those rebates for them. It’s ridiculous.

These guys are selling you a dream and it’s one of the oldest ways to trick people. Look at Wall Street.

How Does it Work?

Scheme is simple. You always have to buy some kit from them. And not just buy, but you have to “qualify” or get a “certificate”. All this bullshit is just to make it sound more official.

You pay anywhere from $50 to even $500 just to “qualify” to process rebates. Yep, real numbers from BBB. And then you’re usually enrolled into a monthly program where you pay $50 or $100 each month just for participating. Of course fees are hidden and you find this out after your credit card was charged $395 already.

What Really Happens?

In reality, here’s what happens. I’m going to throw in a few real life scenarios as not all rebate processing scams are the same.

  1. Instead of sending you instructions on how to process rebates and get a job, they send you something else. A kit teaching how to sell… yes, their own rebate processing product, which you just bought. Incredible isn’t it. And you have to refer people and make commissions, which is affiliate marketing and not a real job.
  2. They send you a coupon or rebate to give away to people when they buy some products, like shoes, watches, you name it. Trick is – you have to find clients yourself. And they show you how to do it. It’s advertising on search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing. You pay from your own pocket to get someone to buy a product from the company’s website. Once they buy, you give them a coupon and you keep some portion of the commissions. So basically you spend like $300 on a kit, then hundreds or thousands on advertising (which is art form in itself) and then you maybe make $15 from a rebate. Holy crap, where do I sign…
  3. Another case how these bastards steal your money is by not sending you anything. You call them, and no one answers or they say they’re busy, on the call. There are no addresses and you’re busted. Such people should be put in jail, but oh well…

Frankly I don’t know if there is any company out there that offers legitimate rebate processing jobs. Even if it does exist, I’d assume it should be some small starting out company, or mom & pop company as they call it. Some people selling candles on eBay and need someone in their neighborhood to process rebates, which they’ll pay $3 for each. I could believe that. But not Sony, HP or Dell. Give me a break.

So guys, don’t get caught into trap. I know it’s tempting. And people do make money working from home. But it’s not by processing rebates. It’s by actually doing some hard work.

Always remember: “If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably a scam!”
